prayer ministry

Prayer is central to our identity as followers of Jesus Christ. It is central to our relationship with God and each other. Please, consider participating in the many opportunities for communal and intercessory prayer at our parish.

Mass Intentions

Every parishioner is highly encouraged to bring their own intentions (ex. people for whom they have promised to pray) and to offer them up in their hearts and minds in prayer at the Mass. However, a person may also request that the priest offer a specific intention as his own at the Mass. The tradition of offering Masses for others, particularly the dead, originates in the very early Church. When a priest offers Holy Mass, he has three intentions: First, to offer the Mass reverently and validly in accord with the norms of the Church. Second, to offer the Mass in union with the whole Church and for the good of the whole Church. Third, to offer the Mass for a particular intention, such as the repose of the soul of someone who has died.

If you would like to request that a Mass be offered for a particular intention, please read our Parish's policy on Mass intentions by clicking here and then visit the parish office to fill out a request form.

MARY, MOTHER OF GOD PRAYER GROUP

Wednesday’s 7:00 PM-9:00 PM in the Marian Room (Note: Location can vary. If not in the Marian room, check the Youth Room (JP2 Room), St. Joseph Room or the church.)

We are a charismatic group striving to be led by the Virgin Mary to grow closer in our relationship with God the Father, Jesus the Son, & the Holy Spirit. Every Wednesday during the “Upper Room,” we focus on finding more joy in the sacraments, growing in our appreciation for the rosary, and learn about laying down our burdens at the feet of the cross. If you are looking for a deeper spiritual encounter or a challenge for your faith life, please join us anytime. Watch the bulletin or see our Facebook page Maria Madre de Dios/Mary Mother of God for Special Retreats, times to join us at Eucharistic Adoration, special vigils throughout the year, or changes to our regular meeting nights.

All ages & all spiritual levels are welcome! You do not need to be a member of St. Michael’s to attend.

PRAYER CHAIN

The Prayer Chain Ministry is to provide spiritual support to those in special need of intercessory prayer. Parishioners and other individuals make a request for prayers for an individual in need, a difficult situation, or other needs (see below). The Prayer Chain coordinator receives these requests and sends out an email to the prayer chain members. By this process, we seek to be a parish of people constantly praying for each other's needs and the needs of the world.

To make a prayer request or to sign up to be a member of the prayer chain, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

Bereavement Ministry

The Bereavement Ministry is a quiet ministry in our Parish. Some team members assist grieving families by offering closing prayers at the funeral home, prior to the funeral Mass at the church. Others visit local funeral homes to offer support to families after a loved one's death and then maintain contact for one year. Cards and leaflets are also sent when appropriate. Some are helping with the Grieving with Great Hope program. We are involved in the All Souls' Day Mass of Remembrance and provide breakfast following that Mass. There are four one-hour meetings during the year.

For questions or comments, please contact Em Romer at 419-423-7013 or the Parish Office.

ROSARY

Recitation of the Rosary is held every Sunday morning prior to the 9:00 am Mass in the Downtown Church.

As part of the ministry of the Rosary Altar Society, the rosary is recited prior to the funeral of the deceased women of the parish.

FAMILY HOLY HOUR - Sunday - 4:30-5:30 PM - Parish Church

Calendar for 2022-2023 September 4, October 3, November 6, February 5 (2023), March 5 (2023), June 4 (2023)

The Family Holy Hour Ministry arranges for benediction and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on the second Sunday of each month starting at 4:30pm in the Main Church at 750 Bright Road. The main purpose of this event is to provide a space where whole families can come and join together in prayer, even (and especially) families with young ones that the parents may not feel comfortable bringing to other prayer groups.

The Holy Hour is followed by a potluck in the school Auditorium. Bring a dish to share. You can drop off the dish/crockpot in the Auditorium prior to the Holy Hour.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Night Of Worship (NOW) - Sunday 7:15-8:15 PM - School Auditorium

Calendar for 2022-2023 - September 18, October 16, November 20, January 15 (2023), February 19 (2023), March 19 (2023), May 21 (2023)

Night of Worship is a monthly opportunity to pray with and praise Jesus through contemporary praise and worship music. The purpose of this opportunity is twofold. First, to offer fervent praise to God who is deserving of all our devotion. Second, to provide an environment that opens a door toward a more personal encounter with Christ and his life-changing Grace. Truly we are all in need of bother of these things, but we especially encourage people to invite friends who do not have a meaningful connection with Christ or are perhaps struggling with their faith. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
