Youth Board Minutes

September Youth Board

Before we begin......

Happy Birthday to Sam Zoll, who's birthday will be on the 25th! Special thanks to Paige Lazar for bringing the cake!

Ok, down to business.

Great turnout for the first official youth board meeting!  A ton of things were discussed, starting with a brief mentioning of a volunteer opportunity by Mr. Kettinger.

1) Youth are needed!!

       -8th grade confirmation sessions

-It would be from 6-7pm on October 9th

-Helping prep confirmation candidates behind the scenes for skits and other stuff

2) It was discovered during the pre-meeting activity of "two truths and a lie" that Ben's favorite color is not green, but  actually blue.  This will need to be kept in mind for the next time this game is played.

      - A date needs to be established to set up a calling party still

-The auction is on the 22nd

4) COMPETITION!!

Also, Just a brief reminder that Peaches and Cream will be hosting the Life Night this very Sunday!  Sources tell me that this will not be one you want to miss.  (And I'm not just saying that because I'm on peaches and cream).  So just don't miss it!

Minutes from the first Youth Board Meeting August 6th. submitted by Jimmy Roche

I'm sure many of you have been wondering when these would be put up for all of us to see.  Well I decided that after 2 weeks it was probably time to throw these up.  All these notes will be posted on this group in the future because i figured it'd be easier for everyone to comment on what was discussed and throw out new ideas.  Plus... I kinda figured not many of the youth board/life teen members would check their email anyways.  Special thanks to assistant secretary Emily Lazar for taking these notes and doing the job I was elected to do while I was at work. Here we go...

First off, some goals for the year were listed:

             1.  MORE PEOPLE!

Last year our numbers took a plunge after Christmas break and it would be great to see some new people show up!  So if anyone has any ideas for publicity just leave them in the comments below!

       2.  Promote the auction!! (Those ideas can also be thrown in below)

Second: Morning Prayer

  1. Looking like it will be at 7 on Thursday mornings  (since FHS starts 15 later on those days)
  2. HOWEVER.... we start school 5 minutes earlier this year... so we have an extra 5 minutes stolen from us :(
  3. Morning Prayer will be a reflection led by a person picked by youth board
  4. Morning prayer will always be the Thursday after Life Nights!

Third:  The upcoming youth auction

  1. We didn't talk about this yet (Next meeting)

Fourth: Important Calendar Dates

  1. Ideas were tossed around about Life Teen Mass on holy days of obligation
  2. Boys Tech will be November 12th, 13th, and 14th as well as sometime in March
  3. Girls Tech will be in December
  4. NCYC-Huge conference to learn about our faith that will include several speakers
  5. The November monthly service project will again be raking leaves for the parish and its neighbors in need of help.  Date will be determined when the leaves decide they don't like their trees anymore.
  6.  December service project: Caroling (Date unknown)
  7. Christmas Camp will be either December 10th or 17th (We'll decide and schedule at the next meeting)
  8. The ski trip will be January 14th
  9. Famine will be February 24th.  We will be fasting for 30 hours before some awesome food is to be had.  Members will be allowed juice to combat angry stomachs.
  10. There will be NO life teen on April 8th because of Easter
  11. Hocking Hills will be from May 25th-27th.  EVERYONE SHOULD GO!
  12. The Parish Festival will also be June 15th-16th

Fifth: Possible topics for life teen nights that were discussed  include but aren't limited too...
